Scott Rafferty

Scott grew up in the New Hampshire Seacoast and currently resides in Portsmouth, NH with his wife Jessie. Scott earned his BS in Sports Management with a concentration in Marketing from the University of New Hampshire. After a starting his career in the finance industry, he worked several years for a southern Maine resort as a Group Sales and Marketing Manager.  With his entrepreneurial mindset Scott started to find his passion for real estate.  He went on to obtain his MBA from Southern New Hampshire University. While receiving his MBA, he continued to further his career in the real estate industry leading him to his current role today as one of the founders of Open Concepts Realty.  His main goal was to provide a new concept on how the real estate market is perceived.  After countless hours of brainstorming with co-founder Marc Schoff, they realized their overall goal was to provide clients with an experience that has both integrity and meaning behind the structures of commissions.  Scott specializes in various aspects of residential and commercial real estate, including but not limited to: buying, selling, leasing, property management, and investment properties.   Scott also manages several of his own residential rental properties in and around the seacoast area.

Marc W. Schoff

Co-Founder and Realtor

Marc is a lifelong resident of the Greater Seacoast area. He is currently entering his 19th year of teaching mathematics and coaching at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, NH. An accomplished baseball advocate, Marc guided teams to State Championships in 2004 and 2012, and was at the helm for Runner’s-Up honors in 2009, and 2011. He is a former Dean of Students at the school, but decided to trade in his administrative responsibilities to focus more intently on exploring the real estate industry. Marc has rather extensive property management experience on a part-time basis working for Great Works Properties in Rollinsford, NH, CapSol Group LLC, and The Nealley House in South Berwick, ME. Marc passed the New Hampshire and National Real Estate exam in December of 2016, and is an active co-founder of Open Concepts Realty. Marc specializes in various aspects of residential and commercial real estate including but not limited to: land acquisitions, buying, selling, leasing, property management, and vacation rentals.

Jessie Rafferty

Content Manager/Office Assistant

Jessie grew up in the Maine Seacoast and currently resides in Portsmouth, NH with her husband, Scott. Jessie attended the University of Vermont where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  While attending Vermont, Jessie was a four-year scholarship Varsity Lacrosse athlete for the Catamounts.  Jessie went onto Franklin Pierce University to pursue her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.  While at Franklin Pierce, Jessie was the Assistant Varsity Woman’s Lacrosse and Field Hockey Coach.  Jessie has now gone on to fulfill her dream as a 4th grade classroom teacher at Coastal Ridge Elementary School in York, Maine.  When not on in the classroom, you will find Jessie working tirelessly and bringing her creative mind and social media experience to manage all of the content for Open Concepts Realty.  Jessie also is looking to provide Open Concepts Realty with interior design support for listings.  She actively is involved in numerous home renovations with her husband around the Portsmouth area.

Scott Phillips

Principal Broker

Scott currently resides in York, Maine with his wife Nancy where they brought up their two daughters.  Scott brings over 35 years of entrepreneurial experience and skills to serve clients of the Open Concepts Realty. Prior to becoming the Principal Broker at Open Concepts Realty, he spent 13 years as an associate/partner of a regional business brokerage firm where he advised clients on valuation and marketing strategies ultimately leading to the successful transfer of ownership of a variety of privately held businesses. In addition, he assisted in the preparation of business plans, performed fee valuations for varied purposes and served as an expert witness in court testimony. 

Phillips also spent 14 years in Baltimore, Maryland where he was a principal of an urban specialty retailing and development firm. He was involved with re-merchandising a mixed-use multi-cinema, restaurant, and municipal parking complex. He was an investor/developer of historic properties and served as a mayoral appointee on The Commission for Historic and Architectural Preservation. He also acted as a liaison between the Baltimore City Planning Department and the Baltimore Economic Development Corporation in promoting commercial revitalization of the inner city.

The Story Behind OCR

 The gratification of coaching athletics was truly foundational in the forming of Open Concepts Realty. Scott Rafferty and Marc Schoff cultivated a strong friendship through coaching baseball in and around the seacoast area for over a decade. On countless occasions after games, a discussion of real estate would ultimately become THE ‘hot topic’ of conversation. Scott, who was a practicing, licensed REALTOR® at the time, would often make comparisons between the impact of helping his players emotionally (both on and off the field) while coaching, to the buying and selling procedures that he cultivated with his clients. Both share common goals of fostering relationships, building character, and striving to succeed for the betterment of others.

Scott had been learning the “in’s and out’s” of the seacoast Real Estate market for several years when he and Marc started to brainstorm about creating a company of their own. Although prevalent, the big business and corporate mentality associated with the present Real Estate industry provided very little motivation to both men. Scott and Marc wanted to use their personal talents and experiences to create an agency that was rooted in customer service, and in customer care. Thus, the purpose of Open Concepts Realty became clear, and its mission validated. The company would strive to become a Real Estate brokerage that was relationship-driven, and one that would embrace a transparent, trustworthy, and thorough mode of operation. Thus, after about three plus years of careful planning, both felt that it was time to introduce the new game plan to the region, and one that could be justified and enhanced by a client-first mentality. With Scott’s business management and marketing background, along with Marc’s own sales and Real Estate operations experiences with VRBO, the bases were loaded. The two had no choice but to swing for the fence with their new, and innovative approach toward helping people acquire, and sell, real property.

In the late fall of 2016, Scott and Marc decided to share this Real Estate business approach with their coach and potential principal broker, Scott Phillips. Impressed by what he had heard, Scott immediately decided to lead the team and take a healthy swing at developing Open Concepts Realty with Scott Rafferty and Marc Schoff. The result aims to be a home run of a concept, and one that offers premium, client-selected listing packages, at commission structures that are highly competitive and justified, through determination.

Open Concepts Realty officially became a reality in May of 2017, and is steadfast to uphold impeccable standards of practice and high ideals at any cost. Through a structured hiring process, OCR intends to choose associates who are willing to march behind its vision. They will continue to recruit individuals who are dedicated to providing clients with the best products available in the game, in the most honest and open manner possible.
