Scott grew up in the New Hampshire Seacoast and currently resides in Portsmouth, NH with his wife, Jessie and dog, Bailey. Scott earned his BS in Sports Management with a concentration in Marketing from the University of New Hampshire. With his entrepreneurial mindset, Scott started to find his passion for the real estate business and went on to obtain an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University. During that timeframe, he continued to further his career in the real estate industry, leading him to his current role as one of the founders and Principal Broker of Open Concepts Realty.  His vision was to create a new and unique perspective that would enable his clients to experience the service of a completely transparent brokerage.  Scott specializes in various aspects of residential and commercial real estate, including but not limited to: buying, selling, leasing, property management, and investment properties.  Scott also manages several of his own residential rental properties in and around the seacoast area.

Marc is a life-long resident of the Greater Seacoast area. A well-known and accomplished mathematics teacher and coach for the past few decades, Marc has begun to utilize his organizational skills, approachability, and strong work ethic, along with his penchant for attentive listening and timely communication, to forge a promising career in the Real Estate industry. He proudly possesses extensive area knowledge of both; southern Maine and coastal New Hampshire and has a unique statistical understanding of the current market trends in both regions. Marc gained valuable real estate and property management experience while working for Great Works Properties in Rollinsford, NH, CapSol Group LLC, and The Nealley House in South Berwick, ME. He passed the New Hampshire and National Real Estate exam in December of 2016 and is an active Co-Founder of Open Concepts Realty. Marc has demonstrated specialization in various aspects of residential and commercial real estate, including but not limited to: land acquisitions, buying, selling, leasing, property management, and new construction development.

Jessie Rafferty

Jessie grew up in the Maine Seacoast and currently resides in Portsmouth, NH with her husband, Scott. Jessie attended the University of Vermont where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  While attending Vermont, Jessie was a four-year scholarship Varsity Lacrosse athlete for the Catamounts.  Jessie went onto Franklin Pierce University to pursue her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.  While at Franklin Pierce, Jessie was the Assistant Varsity Woman’s Lacrosse and Field Hockey Coach.  Jessie has now gone on to fulfill her dream as a 4th grade classroom teacher at Coastal Ridge Elementary School in York, Maine.  When not on in the classroom, you will find Jessie working tirelessly and bringing her creative mind and social media expertise to manage the online content for Open Concepts Realty.  Jessie also provides Open Concepts Realty with interior design knowledge.  She is actively involved in numerous home renovations with her husband around the Portsmouth area.

The Story Behind OCR

The art of “coaching” was truly a foundation in forming Open Concepts Realty. Scott Rafferty and Marc Schoff cultivated an enduring friendship while coaching baseball in and around the seacoast area for over a decade. Real Estate was the ‘hot topic’ on countless occasions after games or practices. Scott, who was a practicing, licensed REALTOR® at the time. While coaching, he often pointed out comparisons between the impact of helping his players emotionally both on and off the field, to the buying and selling procedures that he had developed with his clients, while practicing Real Estate. Each unique situation seemed to share several common goals, which included fostering relationships, building individual character, and increasing confidence.

While Scott was absorbing the “in’s and out’s” of the seacoast Real Estate market in practice, he and Marc began to brainstorm about creating a company of their own. The widely prevalent ‘big-business’ and ‘corporate’ mentality, associated with the present seacoast industry, ultimately provided a necessary motivation to both men. Scott and Marc wanted to create something different, and develop a Real Estate company that maximized their personal talents and life experiences. The end result of those initial dialogues was to develop an agency that needed to be rooted in customer service, as well as one that placed an emphasis on customer care beyond anything else. Thus, the purpose of Open Concepts Realty was established, and its mission authenticated. The company would strive to become a Real Estate brokerage that was relationship-driven, and one that would embrace a transparent, trustworthy, and thorough mode of operation. After about three plus years of careful planning and preparation, both Marc and Scott agreed that it was time to introduce their new game plan to the region. With Scott’s business management, hospitality, and marketing background, along with Marc’s own sales and Real Estate operations experiences with VRBO, the bases were loaded.

The two had no choice but to swing for the fence with their new, innovative approach toward helping people acquire and sell real property.

In the fall of 2016, Scott and Marc decided to share their Real Estate Business Plan with local entrepreneur and Principal Broker, Scott Phillips. Impressed and encouraged by what he had heard, Scott Phillips immediately decided to lead the team as the initial Principal Broker, and aimed to take a healthy swing at enhancing the concepts that were becoming a cornerstone of the company. In April of 2017,Open Concepts Realty officially became a licensed Real Estate brokerage, based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

During the late innings of the development process, a well-planned and arranged move allowed Scott Rafferty to take over the responsibilities as the Principal Broker of Open Concepts Realty. Moving forward, the company intends to expand upon a home run of a concept. This ‘home run’ concept offers premium, client-selected listing packages at commission structures that are highly competitive, and justified by the absence of corporate overhead, commission-sharing arrangements, and franchise fees.
